Forget ordinary sandcastles. On August 25, St. Andrews Beach is getting something much more ambitious. 🏖️🎨
National Sand Art Fest 2026 brings sand artists to St. Andrews Golden Beach in Thumba for a full-day sculpture competition by the Arabian Sea.
Each participant receives a 10 × 10 ft space and several hours to transform a patch of beach into a large-scale work of sand art.

👀 Why Visit if You Are Not Competing?
Because watching the sculptures emerge may be the best part.
Early in the morning there is little more than sand. Over the next several hours, the beach gradually fills with figures, structures and elaborate compositions.
Rather than arriving only at the end, we would visit around the middle of the day, when the artworks have taken shape but the artists are still working.
🌊 St. Andrews Beach Is Worth Seeing Too
St. Andrews Beach lies in Menamkulam, north of central Trivandrum. Kerala Tourism describes it as one of the city's cleaner and more secluded beaches, known for golden sand, palms and a lack of the commercial clutter found at busier beach destinations.
It is a long, spacious stretch of coastline and has traditionally been much quieter than Kovalam or Shangumugham, although it has become increasingly popular with locals during 2026. So the location itself is part of the experience.
