Championship dogs from across India, breed speciality shows, a pet festival, flea market, food and live music - Poojappura is turning into Trivandrum's biggest canine weekend on September 19–20. 🐕🏆
Two connected events are taking over Sree Chithira Thirunal Ground in Poojappura over the same weekend.
The main attraction is a major championship programme organised by Ananthapuri Canine Club, affiliated with the Kennel Club of India. It combines two all-breed championship shows with three national breed speciality shows.
Surrounding it is ANANTHAM - Come, Connect, Belong, a two-day community festival featuring pets, shopping, food and live entertainment. 📅 September 19–20, 2026 🕙 ANANTHAM: 10:00 AM–10:00 PM

🏆 The Dog Shows
On September 19, the official DogsNShows calendar lists three speciality events: the Rottweiler National Specialty, Labrador Retriever National Club Specialty and Beagle Specialty Show.
On September 20, Ananthapuri Canine Club hosts its 1st & 2nd All Breeds Championship Dog Shows.
For visitors, this is a chance to see dogs presented in proper show rings, where judges assess breed type, structure, movement, temperament and presentation.
The promotional poster lists Yashodhara and Gauri Nargolkar for the all-breed judging, Uli Nomis for Rottweilers and Derrick Seow for Labrador Retrievers and Beagles.
The entry fees shown by the organisers are competitor/dog registration fees, not spectator tickets. Current online fees should be checked through DogsNShows before entering a dog, as the live registration platform and the promotional poster currently show slightly different amounts.
🐾 And Then There Is ANANTHAM
The same venue also hosts ANANTHAM, a much more casual community festival.
Expect pet shows and pet fashion showcases, pet accessories and products, a flea market featuring creators and brands, food stalls, live music and performances.
Pets are explicitly welcome, so you can bring your own furry companion along.
That makes the weekend interesting even if championship dog shows are completely new to you: watch the rings for a while, explore the market, grab something to eat and stay for the music. ANANTHAM runs 10 AM to 10 PM on both days.
💡 Which Day Should You Choose?
If you are especially interested in Rottweilers, Labradors or Beagles, go on September 19.
For the widest variety of dogs, September 20 is likely the more interesting day because of the two all-breed championship shows.
Either way, ANANTHAM makes it easy to turn the visit into a full pet-friendly day out rather than just an hour watching a show ring.
