UNBOUND by Mary Samual: can an illustration escape the page and become a work of art in its own right?
That idea lies at the heart of UNBOUND, a new exhibition by visual artist Mary Samual, opening on September 11 at Alliance Française de Trivandrum.
The exhibition explores what happens when illustrations step outside the world of literature and enter the gallery as independent visual works. No longer simply accompanying a written story, the images invite viewers to focus on colour, composition, atmosphere and their own interpretation.
UNBOUND blurs the line between reading and looking, asking us to experience illustrations not merely as part of a book, but as artworks with their own visual identity.
The exhibition is curated by Sreekrishnan K P.
The opening evening will take place in the presence of the artist, making September 11 the best time to experience the exhibition and meet the creator behind the works.
