Art, music, the sea and a community coming together not just to watch, but to connect. Something new is forming in Varkala. 🌊🎨
On September 25, Varkala will host the first edition of AFTERWAVE, a new arts and community festival described by its organisers as a place “where art meets soul.”
The event is hosted by Glow Varkala and appears to be built around Varkala's growing creative community — artists, musicians, makers and people interested in the town's cultural scene.
Three main elements have been announced so far:
🎨 Arts & Installations🎶 Melodic Sessions🤝 Community Chill
The organisers sum up the idea with a simple line:
Art + Community = We. So this does not look like a conventional gallery exhibition. AFTERWAVE seems designed more as a creative gathering by the coast — somewhere to see art, listen to music, meet people and spend time in the atmosphere of Varkala.
🌊 Why AFTERWAVE Varkala looks Interesting
Varkala has developed a creative identity that goes well beyond beaches and yoga: independent cafés, musicians, artists, designers and a mix of local and international residents have created their own small cultural ecosystem.
AFTERWAVE appears to be an attempt to bring some of that energy together in one event.
The organisers describe it as “Born from Varkala's soul” — and that may be the best way to approach it: less like a formal arts fair and more like a celebration of Varkala's creative community. 📅 Friday, September 25, 2026
